Little Sand Point (7/11/13-7/14/13)
Our family's first camping trip! We packed up the Rockwood Freedom pop-up camper and took off to Piseco lake. We enjoyed taking a hike, relaxing in the hammock, and falling asleep to the sound of loons on the lake. Rachel and her boyfriend Clay came and set up a tent and Grandpa and Gigi rode the motorcycle up and stayed at a place close to Speculator. Marleigh played in her Pack-n-Play for most of the weekend as she was a little too small to be walking yet. She loved playing on the beds in the camper and did really well on her first long camping trip. Overall, we had a great time with the start of our new lifestyle!
Lake Harris (8/1/13-8/4/13)
With our first trip under our belts, we quickly booked a reservation for just a few weeks later. We decided to stay at Lake Harris because it was close to the High Peaks. Zak came with us so that Luke and him could begin their quest to summit all 46 Adirondack High Peaks. Upon arrival, we were met with a severe rainstorm! Luke and Zak set up the pop-up in the pouring rain which got all of our things soaked. Luke immediately vowed to buy a full-sized camper. Despite the initial rainy weather, the weekend was not a total washout. Papa and Mimi came and met us for two nights and enjoyed their stay. Somehow, we managed to all fit in the pop-up! We enjoyed time in the canoe, relaxing around a bonfire, and Luke and Zach hiked Wright, Algonquin, and Iroquois for their first 3 High Peaks. It was another great outing!
